Christian Life
The
story is told of an aged silver miner who spent all his life searching for
silver in the mountains of the Old West. He
had become so obsessed with his search that his wife and children had left him.
When he died the handful of people who came to bury him found in his
possessions a note instructing them to bury him under his cabin.
As the earth was overturned a lustrous gray material began to appear. It became known as the largest silver vein in California
history. The miner had been a
millionaire all his life, but he had never been able to claim his wealth.
The Bible says that we are spiritual billionaires because of Christ' death. Claim the gift of God today! - J. Dillow

According
to the book THE DAY AMERICA TOLD THE TRUTH Americans are making up their own
rules and laws. The says that there
is absolutely no moral consensus in this as there was in the 1950s and 1960s.
Religion plays almost no role in shaping most lives, the study found.
While nine out of every ten people say they believe in God, only one in
five had ever talked to a minister, priest, or rabbi about a personal problem.
Four in every five said they believe in an afterlife.
Almost half believe they're headed to heaven, while only 4 percent expect
to spend time in hell.
The results the survey conducted by the book reveal that only 13 percent
of the population still believes in all the Ten Commandments.
Nine out of ten lie regularly. Nearly
one-third of married Americans have had an affair.
One-fifth of the nation's children have lost their virginity by age 13.
One in seven Americans carries a handgun or has one in a vehicle.
One in five women say she has been raped by a date.
For $10 million, 7 percent of the American people will kill a stranger,
23 percent would be willing to become a prostitute, and 25 percent would be
willing to abandon their family.

To see some people you would think that the essential of orthodox Christianity is to have a face so long you could eat oatmeal out of the end of a gas pipe.

Some time ago, a newspaper in Tacoma, Washington, carried the story of Tattoo, the basset hound. Tattoo didn't intend to go for an evening run, but when his owner shut his leash in the car door and took off with Tattoo still outside the vehicle, he had no choice.
A motorcycle officer named Terry Filbert noticed a passing vehicle with something that appeared to be dragging behind it. As he passed the vehicle, he saw the object was a basset hound on a leash.
"He was picking them up and putting them down as fast as he could," said Filbert. He chased the car to a stop, and Tattoo was rescued, but not before the dog reached a speed of twenty to twenty-five miles per hour, and rolled over several times.
(The dog was fine but asked not to go out for an evening walk for a long time.)
There are too many of us whose days are marked by "picking them up and putting them down as fast as we can." We must ruthlessly eliminate hurry from our lives. --John Ortberg
